Course Orientation
Online courses should provide student orientation materials which clarifies what is expected of the student. The orientation page should also include information regarding technology helpdesk hours and number, website resources for writing help (if applicable), and library resources.
Mary Ellen Bornak (2006) with Bucks Community College recommends that online instructors should explain the following:
- How the course will proceed
- How learning is going to occur in the course
- How they will exchange ideas with each other
- How they will demonstrate that they understand the material
- How they will demonstrate how they're going to use this new knowledge
- Where to get help
